This is where the Bunnies are housed. It is a 24x40 Concrete block and wood frame structure with composite lattas on all four sides. I have a 9' overhead door in order to pull cages out to pressure wash on an annual basis. The ceiling is an open hip style which allows for maximum air flow in the hot summer months. We use large 36" fans inside the barn for maximum circulation with a sprinkler/mist system attached to the exterior. The floor is crusher dust for absorbsion and ease of cleaning.
Our cages are 20 hole "Bass Built" cages with legs and plastic single piece trays for ease of washing out daily. We also have some stackable cages with drop trays. The barn is built on the side of a sloping hill in order for washing out the trays. The trays are washed out and drained with 4" pipes out the back of the building and stock piled and given away to local gardeners.
We have a total of 80 full size cages that are full 100% of the time. We will use portable cages from time to time to house rabbits temporarily as needed. These cages are also used for weaning, quarentine and for culling purposes. We are currently having an additional 26 cages made to fit our existing flush clean system.
